昔々、天の神様の娘に織姫という、とても機織りの上手な女の人がいました。
しばらくして、農耕に一生懸命な彦星という男の人を好きになり結婚しました。

怒った天の神様は、２人を引き離し空の彼方に追放してしまいました。
悲しみにくれた織姫を見て、天の神様は１年に１度だけ７月７日の日に彦星と会うことを許しました。
この神話は、琴座の｢ベガ（織姫）」と鷲座の「アルタイル（彦星）」がこの時期、天の川を挟み接近することからできた話といわれているみたいです！
